I'm running a variety of tests on getting the right quality settings for my application, but one thing I'm running into is that the output with default settings is /larger/ than the source file. Is this fairly normal for the format? When I was doing my inital research into FLV, it seemed universal that there was a savings in FLV file size versus a similarly encoded WMV,QT, or RM..
Anyone care to share what your experiences with output filesize has been? Has it been smaller? Larger? Am I doing something silly and obviously wrong?

Yes, sometimes the output file is larger then source. E.g. I encoded small 3Mb avi file into 5 Mb flv file. :D
If you want smaller file just set some options =) for example set small bitrate.

Thanks for the feedback.. I just finished an encoding run of around 5k videos, and see now that on the whole, there is a large savings in file size... but every once in a while, there's one that is freakishly larger.
I blame high-tension powerlines and childhood immunizations.

Hi, I am trying to optimize my settings - I have removed my frame rate and keyframe settings but my end FLV is still double the size of the original.. that's crazy!
You mentioned bitrate - I can't see that in the documentation - how do I set it? Anything else I can set?
Thanks!
